Comment 1:  Pre-Buy The Paper And Envelopes

Print your invitations on your own printer. You can find invitation weight
paper at paper supply stores. Then take it to a print store like Kinkos
and have them laser cut invitations. For example, two invites can fit on
an 8x11 size paper, when cut in half. At the top of the invite you can
glue a ribbon, tie small bows, and hot glue them. Envelopes can be
purchased at paper supply stores as well. Oh, and you can find vellum
paper to put over the printed words. For our daughter's invitations, we
made copies of their photo and added it in front of the words so that
the vellum went over the photo rather than the words. You can experiment
and see what looks best.

Comment 2:  Selfmade Postcard Announcements

We made postcard announcements and copied them ourselves onto cardstock
that looked like parchment. We saved a bundle not only on the
invitations but also on the postage.

My husband has a degree in illustration, so he drew a pen and ink sketch
of the two of us that we copied onto the picture portion of the card.
On the other side we had information announcing our sealing and inviting
friends to our wedding receptions. A vertical line divided the info
section from the address.

With the photo software available today a person could easily do something
similar without needing an especially talented artist.
